You Are What You Do, Not What You Say You’ll Do

It’s always easy to talk about our goals, our dreams, and the things we plan to achieve “one day.” We love to make declarations: “I’m going to get stronger.” “I’ll start eating better.” “I want to learn that skill.”
But how often do those words stay just that — words?

The truth is, it’s the action that counts.
You are not what you say you’ll do.
You are what you consistently do.

Put in the Work, Even When No One’s Watching

Recently, I posted a video on Instagram of my progress in the handstand scorpion pose. It may not seem like a big deal to some, but for me, it was a powerful personal moment — a quiet victory years in the making.

Back in 2020, during the COVID lockdowns, I was practicing handstands alone in my living room after a virtual class. In one attempt, I lost balance and accidentally dropped into a wheel pose. But when I replayed the video recording, for a split second right before I fell, I saw something beautiful: a near-perfect handstand scorpion alignment.

In that exact moment, I made a little promise to myself:
“One day, I’m going to hold that position, on purpose.”

And so, the work began.

The Magic of Showing Up Consistently

Fast forward four years, countless falls, frustration, sweat, and small wins later — I finally found myself in that same position again. This time, not by accident, but by choice. And I could hold it.

It felt amazing not just because of the pose, but because of what it represented:
the power of not giving up.

The quiet discipline of showing up for yourself, even when no one else is watching. The proof that consistent, imperfect action is what transforms “maybe one day” into “I did it.”

If I hadn’t started four years ago, it would still be a dream.
And here’s the thing — four years sounds long until you achieve it.
Then it suddenly feels like it flew by.

Stop Talking. Start Doing.

This isn’t about handstands.
It’s about life.
Whether it’s your health, career, relationships, or personal growth — results come from actions, not intentions.

You don’t have to be perfect.
You just have to begin.
Because the more you do, the more you’ll become the person you always hoped you’d be.

So here’s your reminder today:
Don’t just talk about it. Be about it.
Take the first step. Then another.
And one day, you’ll look back and realise how far you’ve come.
