Here’s a fact: When I was studying for my degree, I had this quote written on a sticky note and placed on the wall above my desk.

I have always believed that “Everything happens for a reason.” Since I was young, I’ve heard that sometimes certain incidents happen to prevent misfortunate events or to lead you toward making better decisions.

This quote also helps me stay optimistic, knowing that things could always be worse.

Recently, an event reminded me of this belief. I had booked a studio nine days in advance for my class. After making the payment, I even sent a reminder to the owner the day before, ensuring she would remember to open the door for me. We had a conversation, and she even asked me to invite her to my next class.

I was really excited about this class because I had prepared to give my students the best experience. One of my students was even bringing her mom and aunt to watch her dance, and the song for the choreography was specially requested by her. It was heartbreaking to realize that things weren’t going according to plan.

At around 11 PM the night before—on the same day I had reminded her—the owner informed me that someone else had booked the same slot. She admitted to making a mistake, giving the wrong date to the other instructor. What followed was a huge headache, and I won’t go into all the details here. It wasn’t resolved until the next morning at 7 AM, when the other instructor and I had to text back and forth to find a solution.

In the end, I had no choice but to give in. I didn’t get the time slot I wanted, and unfortunately, my student’s mom and aunt couldn’t attend. I was really disappointed. If it were you, what would you have done?

The change in plans resulted in just two students attending the class. But to my surprise, it turned out to be one of the best moments. We truly got to dance, learn, and let our hearts sing. We even had coffee and lunch together in the studio.

This unexpected change allowed me to do something I had always wanted—to spend quality time with these two particular students. Praise God!
